Throughout the course of iOS 9, jailbreakers had to go through a bit of a dry patch until Pangu finally came through with the iOS 9.2 to iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak, PPHelper [tutorial]. Although this was patched very quickly with iOS 9.3.4, followed by iOS 9.3.5 firmware, we had hopes that Pangu would provide a new iOS 10 jailbreak before iOS 10 got here but it wasn’t to be. iOS 10 has now been released followed in short order by iOS 10.0.2 and we are still waiting for news of a new jailbreak [as of writing this article].

Can we Jailbreak iOS 10.0.2 ?
The short answer is no. However, Pangu is working hard on a new Pangu 10 utility and will be testing out it on iOS 10.0.2 download [ext link] to see what vulnerabilities are available for use. Because the firmware is new, it will take some time for them to work out what they can and can’t do, especially in light of Apple’s claims that they have made things harder with a new system called “Rootless”, a system designed to stop anyone from accessing certain iOS data and files, whether they have admin access or not.

The Cupertino Company hasn’t exactly succeeded with that because Luca Todesco, the iOS hacker and developer from Italy, has already managed to jailbreak iOS 10 and iOS 10.0.1 both. His proof has been uploaded to his Twitter account under his official handle of @qwertyoruiopz and is there for all to see. However, that jailbreak will not be released in the form of a public jailbreak and that leaves us still waiting for Pangu to produce a fully working iOS 10.0.2 jailbreak.
iOS 10.0.2 Features :
iOS 10 contains a whole host of features that are perfect for jailbreak tweak developers to concentrate their efforts on, while iOS 10.0.2 is just a minor bug fix. For a full list of the features that the tweak developers have to work with, see our separate post here.
iOS 10.0.2 Supported Devices :
All of the devices that are supported by iOS 10 will be supported by the iOS 10.0.2 jailbreak. Every year, the oldest devices are dropped from support by Apple and iOS 10 is no exception to that rule. The following devices will be fully supported by Pangu on the iOS 10.0.2 jailbreak:
- iPhone 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, SE, 7, 7 Plus
- iPod Touch 6th generation
- iPad Air, Air 2
- iPad Mini, 2, 3
- iPad 2, 3, 4
- iPad Pro – both models
